Quick Overview

The Kephart - a design as nostalgic and as useful as the Marbles Woodcraft! And, as Bob executes the pattern, it will be just durable in hand and in memory...
Bead-blasted Tero Tuf is indeed tough and adds to control with a genuinely non-slip surface. Combined with a great pattern and steel it makes a stand-out gift idea!

Horace Sowers Kephart wrote in 1906 that "Your thoroughbred camper likes not the attentions of a landlord, nor will he suffer himself to be rooted to the soil by cares of ownership or lease. It is not possession of the land, but of the landscape, that enjoys; and as for that, all the wild parts of the earth are his, by a title that carries with it no obligation but that he shall not desecrate nor lay them waste."

I can't think of a better introduction to one of Bob Dozier's knives, this one a K45 Kephart. This is a very traditional design, rooted in a century of knife lore and love of the outdoors. With Bob's proprietary heat-treat of D2 steel and hand filling proportions it is ready for the next 100 years. An heirloom knife, both physically and philosophically. This big boy is 9" overall with a 4.25" blade. Mint, in a Dozier vertical kydex sheath sporting black/red/black liners and the optional thumbgrooves on the spine. This one is handled in maroon bead-blasted Tero-Tuf which is something like micarta but instead of a phenolic resin it's made using polyester resin reinforced with polyester textile. This is a very stable handle material that will not crack or break and has negligible water swell - it is recommended for tactical knives in particular due to its no-slip feel. And it does have a grippy texture, especially when bead-blasted.

Just in from Springdale after a multi-year wait!

In the images here is a pic of this knife, the K45, alongside the KS7 Wilderness knife handled in the same maroon Tero Tuf. This is for comparison purposes. If available the KS7 will be listed separately - only the K45 is for sale in this listing.
