Quick Overview

An heirloom knife in a very tradition pattern!

Horace Sowers Kephart wrote in 1906 that "Your thoroughbred camper likes not the attentions of a landlord, nor will he suffer himself to be rooted to the soil by cares of ownership or lease. It is not possession of the land, but of the landscape, that enjoys; and as for that, all the wild parts of the earth are his, by a title that carries with it no obligation but that he shall not desecrate nor lay them waste."

I can't think of a better introduction to one of Bob Dozier's knives, this one a K45 Kephart. This is a very traditional design, rooted in a century of knife lore and love of the outdoors. With Bob's proprietary heat-treat of D2 steel and hand filling proportions it is ready for the next 100 years. An heirloom knife, especially when handled in exhibition grade Desert Ironwood as this one is.
This big boy is 9" overall with a 4.25" blade. The standard thickness for this model is .125". I ordered this one in the slightly heavier .135" stock that Bob uses on his hunting knives - I the the extra heft it provides. Mint, in a Dozier Wilderness sheath and sporting the optional thumbgrooves on the spine. Mint, just in from the shop in Springdale.

In the images here is one of this knife alongside Bob's K7 Slim Outdoorsman. The K7 would make a fine companion piece to this camp knife, whether for medium or small game or just a woods-walk with a grandchild... Only the K45 is for sale in this listing however - I will have the K7 up by itself as long as it's available.
